Ambulances are set to get GPS enabled system. Thanks to the efforts by SIMS hospital. These systems have central dispatch centre.
Addressing an event on Tuesday, the Vice President, Medical, K. Sridhar said they have a quick response emergency service to take patients to the hospital within the golden hour period. Most emergency cases are accidents, heart attacks and strokes. Aiming to deploy these GPS enabled ambulances, they will be located at the perimeter of the city. These will be equipped with ventilators and defibrillators. There is a central dispatch centre located at the hospital in Vadapalani. From here, all the bystanders and attendants will receive instructions. The centre will identify nearest available ambulance from the patient’s site.
To avail the ambulance service, users can dial 2002020 or use the mobile app that has its launch on cards. The mobile app has map where users can keep tracking migration of the ambulance. An exclusive crew from Brigham Hospital, Boston, the US has trained all emergency medical technicians, drivers, nurses, and medical officers for this.
This is just a mere initiative. We have more to be done for being of help to the public, says Ravi Pachamoothoo, the Chairman of SRM Group.
