The dry drought condition during the year has led to the severe shortage of the raw materials and ingredients required for manufacturing papers. This has led to a very steep increase in prices of notebooks this year.

An ordinary classwork notebook price has gone up by up Rs. 3.

The Secretary of the Paper and Stationery traders Association explained in this regard that the price rise in the raw material procured by the paper mills and the shortfall in the growth of pine trees due to severe drought conditions have led to the very steep increase in paper price.

The price of 1 ton of paper has gone up by Rs. 7000 in a single year. This has led to an increase of paper prices 3 times during this single year. So, even an ordinary classwork notebook price is also up to be sold at the increased rate by Rs.3 per quire.

Last year, the price of a 2 quire long-size notebook was Rs.38. This year, this is being sold at Rs. 3.

Unbound notebooks which were sold at Rs.30 per quire is now being sold at Rs.35 per quire. A 1 quire notebook which was sold at Rs.15 per quire, is now sold at Rs.18 per quire.
