In more than 10,000 private schools, new fees structure is likely to be fixed by the Private Schools Fee Determination Committee, bringing relief to the parents in this regard. Recently, the state government appointed Justice T.V. Masilamani, the retired judge of Madras High Court as fee determination committee chairman. On 30th of December, the tenure of Justice S.R. Singaravelu ended as the chairman of the committee. For more than a year, the position has been vacant.

The first meeting after appointing the new chairman was held on Tuesday, yesterday. Various issues such as logistics required for fee fixation process and improving staff strength were discussed during the meet. All the private schools will be issued with call letters asking them to appear before the committee and they ought to bring the needed records next week.
