A new facility to access information regarding accident-related information through the internet has been introduced.
The Chennai High Court, in its order dated 5th January, that the police department should arrange for releasing information regarding road accidents to the those affected by the accident and their relatives and also to the concerned insurance companies.
Accordingly, an arrangement has been made by the archives department of crime records to access information regarding road accidents through the website:
tnpolice.gov.in.
Through this, details, and important documents covering FIR, R.C, driver licence, insurance certificate, vehicle fitness certificates, model map, motor vehicle inspection report, postmortem report, copy of the accident registration, injury certificate, final report, and the detailed report on the accident can be obtained through the above website.
This facility would be available for the accident cases registered after 1st March 2017.
