The state government sources state that police officers who got deployed in the R.K. Nagar by-poll will soon be bounced back to their original posts by next week.
Owing to the by-poll election that was likely to take place on 12th April which then got countermanded due to inundating complaints from political parties, many police officials including the then City Police Commissioner S.George were shifted. Instead of George, Karan Singha was posted.
Four days before countermanding the poll, about 22 offices were transferred to waiting category. This included:
- Additional commissioner of police M.C. Sarangan
- Joint Commissioner of Police K. Joshi Nirmal Kumar
- Deputy Commissioner of Police, Washermenpet, S. Jeyakumar;
- Deputy Commissioner of Police, Pulianthope
- S. Selvakumar, four Assistant Commissioners and 14 Inspectors
They were kept in waiting category without any posting. There was another batch of fresh 22 officers who got posted in their respective places to take charge on the very same day.
Many cops were dissatisfied with the transfer given to them, and that too without any prior notification.
