The Chennai High Court has ordered an interim ban of the new behavioural rules for the employees of the 5 associated banks recently merged with the State Bank of India.

5 Associate Banks including the State Bank of Hyderabad and State Bank of Travancore were merged with the State Bank of India, the largest public sector bank.

It was announced during the merger that new behavioural rules will be applicable for the employees of the 5 associate banks.

However, 17 employees of the 5 Associate Banks filed a petition in the Chennai High Court that the important employee aspects such as pension benefits, salary ratio, and seniority will be affected by the imposition of the new behavioural rules.

This case was taken for enquiry. The Chennai High Court has ordered an interim ban on the new behavioural rules of SBI and also arranged for a notice to be sent to the State Bank of India asking for an explanation in 2 weeks time.
