Smart ration cards distribution in Chennai from 17th April

The distribution of smart ration cards commenced in all districts except Chennai from 1st April. It was delayed in Chennai due to the by-election in the R.K Nagar assembly constituency.
Now, the distribution of smart ration cards in Chennai is set to begin on 17th April.
The new smart ration cards are the latest form of the original family ration cards.
There are 2364386 family cards in Tamil Nadu. The new smart ration cards will replace these. The distribution started in other districts except for Chennai on 1st April. 5 Lakh smart ration cards are being distributed per day.
As the by-election to the R.K Nagar legislative assembly constituency was cancelled, the distribution of smart ration cards will start in Chennai from 17th April. The customer will receive SMS regarding the smart ration card being ready.
After this, the customer may visit the ration shop and get the smart ration card.
Any correction activity on the card such as addition/deletion of names. Spelling errors in name, etc can be done either online or in the government e-service centres.
