A full-scale strike is being conducted today throughout Tamil Nadu in support of the farmers agitation. 1 Lakh police have been deployed for security and safety.
The main organising party DMK had appealed for the support of other political parties in this strike. Congress, Communist parties, and VCP have come to support this.
State transport corporation unions also proposed to participate in the strike – but, since bus services would be greatly affected on a weekday putting the public to hardship, the state government has declared that buses will operate as usual.
