CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) has decided to give up the policy of awarding grace marks. Sometimes, when the questions are perceived to be quite tough by the majority, grace marks up to 15 percent are awarded by CBSE.

CBSE proposed to the central ministry of human welfare and development to arrive at a unanimous decision to give up the policy of awarding grace marks by the departments of education in all states.

Subsequently, in a CBSE high-level executive committee meeting, the decision has been taken to give up the policy of awarding grace marks.

However, the policy may still be considered in some special cases such as when only very few marks are required to pass the examination paper.
