It has been decided to install solar power centres in the offices of TANGEDCO to overcome the power shortage or power cut situation.
With increasing intensity of heat this summer, the consumption of electric power has gone up. TANGEDCO is taking various initiatives to meet this additional demand. It has especially decided on setting up and utilizing solar power centres.
Both the central and state governments have been encouraging the setting up of solar power centres in houses, offices, and factories by offering subsidies.
In Tamil Nadu, the state government has been buying power from the solar power stations set up by the private sector companies.
In this scenario, a decision has been taken to set up solar power centres in TANGEDCO main offices.
Solar power centres will be set up in 9 offices of regional Chief Engineer and 21 TANGEDCO power distribution centers.
Each solar power center will be of 10 to 20-kilowatt capacity. 1 kw of electricity will generate 5 units of electrical energy.
