Coonoor:
This is the second largest of Nilgiri hills Western Ghats. It hardly takes 19km drive from Ooty to reach here. Yelagiri Hills:
Yelagiri is located at 230km distance from Chennai. This is a hill station in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu. The hill station is sandwiched between Vaniyambadi and Jolarpettai. If you are looking for a quick trip, to all Chennai and Bangalore residents, Yelagiri is the ideal choice as it is the closest one. This town is a cluster of 14 hamlets that are present between 4 mountains widespread in 30 sqft area. It has 3500ft altitude. All the tribes here are engaged in agriculture, horticulture, forestry, and so on. The hills are surrounded by beautiful orchards, rose gardens and green valleys.
Yercaud:
From Salem, it hardly takes 31 km travel to reach Yercaud. From Chennai, you need to travel for 349 km. This is an amazing hill station and a renowned tourist destination in Tamil Nadu. It belongs to Shevaroy range of hills of Eastern Ghats. The altitude of the hill station is 4920 ft which is 1515m.
Yercaud – Yeri means lake in Tamil and Kaadu is forest. Thus is the name Yercaud, especially for the presence of Yercaud lake at the town’s centre. Emerald lake, Lady’s seat, Shevaroy temple, small lake, Bear’s point, Pagoda point, Killiyur falls, botanical garden, etc are some of the attractions here.
Kolli hills:
Take a ride for 395 km from Chennai to reach Kolli hills. Also called as Kolli Malai, the small mountain range is situated in Namakkal. There are whopping 7070 hairpin bends to reach the top most point of the hills. This is not a place of commercial tourism, and hence is serene and remains naturally beautiful.
In these hills, trekking is very popular. It is a wonderful experience to trek to the Aagaya Gangai waterfalls. Seekuparai and Selur Nadu are the two viewpoints. The Tamil Nadu government maintains a pineapple research farm at Seekuparai viewpoint.

If you are looking for a place to relax yourself and set aside all your worries, Bellikkal is definitely a brilliant choice. Rather than having too many places to inundate your mind, you will enjoy calm, serene and peaceful being in this village.
