The Director of School Education, Mr. R. Ilangovan, has ordered that subject-wise quota based on the chosen elective subjects for seats must be adopted for admission to the +1 and +2 classes.
The director has sent a circular to all the District Chief Education Officers and District Education Officers regarding this. A brief on the same:
Subject-wise quota system for seats must be followed during admission to higher classes (+1 and +2). This is mentioned in the regulations for approvals given to higher secondary schools.
As per the laws on reservations, all schools functioning under the state government control (Except minority schools) must follow the reservation quota for the academic year 2017-18, as per the chart below:
- Open Community cadre - 31 percent
- ST (Ancient Tribes) - 1 percent
- Adi Dravidas (SC) - 18 percent (3 percent in this reserved for Arundhathis)
- Most Backward Communities and TNC - 20 percent
- Backward Muslim - 3.5 percent
- Backward Community (BC) - 26.5 percent
As per the chart above, the list of the Open community cadre (31 percent) must be prepared first. Priority for admission must be based on the marks obtained.
This list must be prepared without any distinction on OC, BC or MBC and then the list of selection is to be prepared as per the quota for different categories.
