The postal department is likely to introduce delivery of cash at doorsteps, mini ATM centres, post payment banks and cash withdrawal through mobile. Lakhs of customers in the country are likely to be benefitted out of this new launch.
The department is taking measures for expanding core banking infrastructure at post offices and launch facilities that will improve customer satisfaction in carrying out safe transactions.
According to the officials, services including withdrawal of cash via phone are to be soon launched. If done so, detail verification will be done and cash will be delivered to the account holder at the doorsteps through postman. For this action to be accomplished, more staff members are to be deployed, said an official from the postal department.
The postal department is trying to absorb more customers by providing cheque book for each and every savings bank account they open. With banks, there are restrictions with the total number of transactions they can make using cheque book or card. This is not so with the postal department. Each and every account opened with the post office will also be linked with the Rural Integrated Communication Technology. This will serve as a common platform to bank.
