Admission to Engineering Courses: 33769 candidates applied within a week

Since the commencement of the facility to apply online for admission to engineering courses, 33769 applications have been registered during the last 1 week alone.
There are over 570 engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu. There are 2 Lakh seats available to join the B. E./B. Tech. courses. These are filled with the general counselling sessions conducted by Anna University. The online application facility commenced on 1st May and is in progress.
The remarkable aspect is that 4786 applications were registered on the 1st day itself. On the 2nd day, 6860 applications were received online. 3rd day - 6608, 4th day – 5150, 5th day – 4262, 6th day – 4265, and 7th day – 1838. This works out to a total of 33769 applications registered online during the last 1 week.
The online registration closes on 31st May. The filled applications, attached with all the copies/proofs of requisite documents, must reach Anna University before 3rd June.
Subsequently, the applications will be scrutinized and the random numbers will be allotted on 20th June. The merit list will be released on 22nd June. The 1st phase of counselling will start on 27th June.
