On Wednesday, the state government has launched 5 mobile quality control labs. This is to improve the quality of state government road and infrastructure projects in five districts: Tiruvallur, Erode, Madurai, Nagapattinam and Tirunelveli. The launch was flagged off by CM Palanisamy. The total value of these control units is Rs 2.35 crore.

Annually, Rs 20,000 crore worth central and state government road and infrastructure projects are planned to be implemented by the rural development department. There are different quality control measures to be taken for these, it added.

There are 20 tools and equipment included in these mobile labs. Here, 15 different types of quality assessments will be done. Online uploading or monitoring of results is possible.

The CM also laid the foundation to set up a music college in Tiruvannamalai district. To each of the kin of those who lost lives in a lightning strike at Thirumangalam in Madurai, the CM offered Rs 4 lakh on 9th May.
