There some aspects in the pursuit of education which are as important as excelling in the academic performance. One of them is to prepare for the future - applying to colleges even before the public examinations. It is very advisable to apply for all the entrances tests for different courses - whether medical or engineering or others. This would ensure that you will succeed at least in one of them.

The students need not get too confused on the pursuit of college education. Seeking counselling from seniors and academicians will help. Please do not get carried away after reading the colourful full-page or multi-page advertisements from different institutions.

Consider the more important features - whether the college has excellent faculty, whether the institution prepares the students keeping a close monitoring of the industrial and other fields growth and prepare them accordingly so that the students get job-fit.

Visit the websites of several colleges and note all the finer aspects. The merit list of colleges, which is periodically released, will also read and note down the important factors such as the percentage examination success of the college, laboratory facilities, training courses offered during the study, the quality of the companies/institution who visit the colleges to conduct campus interviews, etc. Collecting these data, you can make a merit list on your own.

Some people may question whether all this fuss is required - the answer is - yes, it is. Especially because you are deciding about your future which is all-important.

Engineering courses:

For the candidates pursuing engineering courses, it is a challenge selecting the speciality, especially, as there are 40 branches offered in engineering courses. All of them are fairly good. However, looking at the long-range growth of the country, it can be safely recommended that courses on E.E.E., Civil, or Computer related subjects are the best which offer a brighter future for the students.

The faculty of energy has grown tremendously at both the national and international levels. The growth of most fields of the industry depends on the availability of energy. Considering this important aspect, the central and state governments have over 500 major projects on various energy sources such as windmills, Solar energy, and nuclear energy.

Thus, the selection of E.E.E. appears to be the best for maximum opportunities.
The students who opt for civil engineering should pursue further education after graduation. Parallel to the rapid advancement of technology, the field of construction has witnessed astounding growth. In China, they build a 15-storeyed building in just 3 days. With a view to learning the latest in technology, it is preferable to pursue further education in civil engineering.

Among the interesting civil engineering branches, there are many interesting options
which offer good scope for a bright future:

Geo-technology - applied in the construction of huge multi-storeyed buildings and the laying of foundations for bridges.

Ocean Engineering - construction activities under the sea,

Vibration analysis and earthquake information technology - related to constructions s to withstand earthquakes,

Advanced Structural Engineering - construction of modern buildings,

Sustainable Development and Constructing Engineering - related to the strengthening of foundations of old multi-storeyed buildings and bridges.

Information Technology is slated to undergo huge growth in the next 10 years.

The students who seek to pursue engineering courses need to consider the growth aspect/prospect of the chosen field in the next 10 years. It is also advisable to seek the counselling from the related experts and professors while pursuing a particular course.
