Metro Rail underground service: 80000 passengers enjoy pleasure trip in the 1st 2 days

The Metro Rail Project underground section between Thirumangalam and Nehru Park was inaugurated on Sunday, 14th May by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E. Palanisamy and the central Minister Venkaiah Naidu.

Metro trains are operated at intervals of 15 minutes. It takes 15 minutes to travel from Thirumangalam to Koyambedu.

A card for Rs. 10 is given for the travel. This can be recharged for travel. Recharging can be done from a minimum of Rs. 50 to Rs. 3000.

Fares:

From Thirumangalam to Anna Nagar Tower - Rs. 10. From Thirumangalam to Anna Nagar East – Rs. 10. Thirumangalam to Shenoy Nagar – Rs. 20. Thirumangalam to Pachaiyappa College – Rs. 30. Thirumangalam to Kilpauk – Rs. 30. Thirumangalam to Nehru Park – Rs. 40.

In order to encourage and attract more passengers to use Metro Rail, CMRL has announced 40 percent concession on the fares for 7 days.

There has been an appreciable gathering of passengers over the last 2 days. Further, the the traffic congestion in Poonamallee High Road has gone down by 20 percent.

The officials informed that over 80000 passengers had undertaken travel in the new service over the last 2 days.
