Fisheries varsity to provide new courses this year

In its Chennai campus, the Tamil Nadu Fisheries University will offer new bachelor and master degree. The vice chancellor of the university Dr. S. Felix addressed a press meet at the Fisheries College and Research Centre at Tuticorin on Wednesday and announced the same. After assuming position, this is the very first time he is visiting the centre.
 
The masters degree is offered in 10 different streams and PhD course in 8 streams. Starting from this academic year, there will also be other courses including
  • B.Tech in Biotech
  • M.FSc in Fish Biotechnology
  • M.Fsc in Genetics and Breeding
  • M FSc in Pharmacology and Toxicology
  • MBA in Fisheries Enterprise Management 
Further, he said, there will be 5 percent reservation for children of fishermen community as announced by the state government.
 
In all the Fisheries College and Research Institute campuses falling under its jurisdiction, there are both undergraduate courses and undergraduate engineering courses in fisheries.
 
There are total of 60 seats in all UG courses, whereas in B.E courses on fisheries at Nagapattinam has got 20 seats. On 10th May, the application process got inaugurated. This will keep continuing till 10th June. Following this, the merit list will be generated and counselling will be held during July second week.
