2 Lakh passengers in 6 days: Chennai Metro underground section

Subsequent to the concessional offer of 40 percent given by the Chennai Metro Rail in order to attract more passengers, over 2 lakh passengers have travelled in the Chennai Metro underground section (Thirumangalam - Nehru Park) over the last 6 days.
The Chennai Metro Rail Project is progressing rapidly covering a total distance of 45 km in 2 corridors. So far, the project work is completed for a distance of 28 km and the public services have started.
Meanwhile, as a measure to increase the number of passengers, a concession offer of 40 percent for a week is introduced. so, the number of passengers has increased considerably. The officials confirmed that over 2 lakh passengers have travelled in the last 6 days. More public will patronise once the Egmore station, the Chennai Central station, and Anna Salai link routes are opened.
