Minister for School Education K. A. Sengottaiyan has made announcements for 37 new feature in the Legislative Assembly today (Thursday, 15th June).
- A large-scale library will be set up in Madurai (With over 1 Lakh books).
- 30 primary schools will be started in hilly and village regions.
- Rare literature items and other items of interest will be accepted from the public.
- 4084 new teachers will be appointed in this academic year.
- The recommendations from experts regarding changes in the syllabus will be obtained and will be presented in the assembly in a week.
- 17000 temporary teachers posts will be made permanent.
- The schools excelling will be awarded the Novel School Award.
- Part-time teachers will be appointed at a salary of Rs. 7500.
- Extension of time given until end November for admission of students in private schools under the Compulsory Education Scheme.
- 5200 government high schools and higher secondary schools will be provided with napkin and burning machines (incinerators).
- An allotment of Rs. 5 Crores made for buying technical books for the Anna Centenary Library.
- 100 students will be sent abroad every year with a view to encourage the talent of the students in Science and Technology.
- Online TC (Transfer Certificate) will be given to the students who studied in Tamil Nadu and leave for other states.
- Self-financed school teachers will be provided with on-the-job training.
- Permission will be given to applying online to start Matric schools.
- General libraries will be allotted a fund of Rs. 30 Crores to buy new books.
- Book fairs will be conducted in 32 districts at the cost of Rs. 3 Crores.
- 89 new special courses will be offered in Arts and Science Colleges.
- A skill bank will be set up in Alagappa University at a cost of Rs. 2.2 Crores.
- A Science Centre will be set up in Chennai Periyar Science and Technology Centre.
- A large-scale library will be set up on the ancient civilizations and other histories in Keeladi.
