Generally. most of the medical expenses are incurred in a sudden manner. Due to this, it is always best advised to cover oneself with medical insurance.
The private insurance companies offer medical coverage insurance by taking the premium amount in various options for the individual.
Some medical coverage policies are especially intended to for certain specific diseases demanding emergency treatment or surgery, especially meant for people belonging to the weaker economic section.
What is a medical insurance plan?
The Chief Minister’s Medical Insurance Plan takes care of the medical and treatment expenses in specific cases.
Eligibility
The annual income of the family must be less than Rs. 72000.
Documents required:
Income proof certificate must be obtained from the Village Administration Officers for village residents and from Tahsildars for the urban residents. The applicant must have a family card. Only those mentioned in the family card would be eligible to be covered under this plan.
Where to apply?
There is a medical insurance coverage center set up in each district. Visit the center. Get the application form. Fill it and submit the same attached with all requisite documents.
The center will give a date – go along with all the family members as per the family card and get photographs taken. Once the photo is taken, the medical insurance coverage card will be issued in 1 or 2 days.
How to draw the benefits?
The treatment can be taken in government or approved private hospitals. All age groups can take treatment. The following treatments including surgery can be taken.
Heart/lung surgery, cancer treatment, kidney diseases, brain and nerve system related diseases, eye infection and related, gastric/liver related diseases, plastic surgery, ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) related treatment, womb diseases, and blood diseases.
Points to be noted while visiting the hospital
The medical expenses from the 1st day of admission till discharge, the expenses for the various tests conducted in 5 days, and other treatment-related expenses will be refunded/paid under the medical insurance coverage scheme.
It is advisable to meet the officials of the hospital’s medical insurance coverage and get all details. This is due to the fact that the treatment expenses vary from hospital to hospital for the same treatment.
