As electric fans are grouped in 28% GST slab, the common public and people of lower economic groups will be greatly affected.
This has been reported by the Fans Manufactures Association. Presently the fans are under the tax bracket of 12%. However, under the GST, fans are brought under the 28% GST slab.
The Fan Manufacturers’ Association has strongly protested this decision to combine electric fans with air-conditioners under the 28% GST slab.
In a similar way, the Tamil Nadu Handloom Weavers Association also has expressed that over 8 Lakhs weavers will be affected in Tamil Nadu will be affected with the new GST system implementation.
The head of the Tamil Nadu Weavers’ Association informed in Erode that the textile items have not been exempted from GST. Because of the daily textile trade may get affected to the extent of Rs. 5000 Crores. So, he urged the government to reconsider this and revert to the old system of tax for the textiles.
