Subsequent to the release of NEET results, the application forms for admission to medical courses are scheduled to be distributed in a day or 2.

As far as the state of Tamil Nadu is concerned, the results of NEET are indeed shocking. None from Tamil Nadu got in the 1st 25 places.

The students have been terribly upset. Probably as a recourse to offset this upset, the state government of Tamil Nadu has decided to reserve a quota of 85% in the admission to the medical courses, for the students who studied under the state government syllabus.

The students from Tamil Nadu were the most affected while encountering NEET. The results were indeed shocking to them.

Out of the 90000 students from Tamil Nadu who wrote NEET, 90% students have studied under the state government syllabus. Only the balance 10% students are those who studied under the CBSE syllabus.

As some of the questions in NEET were outside the state government syllabus, these students from Tamil Nadu were affected. There was not even a single student from Tamil Nadu in the top 25. This has shocked the academicians and the students in Tamil Nadu.

As there is no system of a state-wise ranking list, the details of who secured the top rank from the state of Tamil Nadu and the success percentage details of Tamil Nadu students could not be ascertained.

In this scenario, the state government of Tamil Nadu has made an important announcement.

As per this, apart from the All India quota of reservation, 85% of the seats are reserved for the students who studied under the state government syllabus. The balance 15% will be allotted to CBSE students.

With the distribution of the application form for admission to the medical course set to be released in 1 or 2 days, this announcement is deemed as the most important.

Especially, with the Tamil Nadu students being the most affected in NEET, this announcement will provide a great relief.

A feature worth noting here is that the state government of Gujarat has already implemented this 85% quota.
