The application forms for admission to medical courses (MBBS and BDS) will be distributed from today (Tuesday, 27th June).
The Director of Medical Education has informed all preparations on every aspect is complete and ready to start the process.
NEET (National Entrance-cum-Eligibility Test), in which a pass is required for admission to medical courses is required, was conducted throughout the country on 7th May.
Lakhs of students wrote the examination, including 85000 students from Tamil Nadu. The results of NEET were released recently.
In the next phase, applications for admission to the medical courses are to be distributed from today.
The Director of Medical Education Edwin Joe, explained The application form and guidelines for filling up have been designed based on the +2 results and NEET results.
The application form can be obtained from the 22 medical colleges in the state or else from the website online. The application forms will be available and sold until 5.00 PM on 7th July.
The filled applications will be received till 5.00 PM on 8th July. For getting the application forms, a DD (Demand Draft) has to be taken (The Secretary, Selection Committee, Chennai) for Rs. 500. The fee for the application forms for self-financed private medical colleges is Rs. 1000. The students belonging to SC/ST category are exempted from the application fee. They need to produce the caste proof.
The front page of the application form will show the detail whether it is for private or government medical college.
Application forms will be distributed from 10.00 AM to 5.00 PM. Arrangements have been made to ensure that there is no shortage of forms and they should be easily available.
Application forms will be given to anyone. It is not necessary that the applicants must come personally to get the application form. They need not give proof of mark sheet for this. Rank list will be released on 14th July.
Special centres have been set up in the medical colleges to facilitate getting the DD to be attached with the filled application.
