Due to implementation of Goods and Services Tax on 1st July, it is likely that Nokia 5 and Nokia 6, the 2 Nokia Android-powered smartphones will make a delayed entry into the Indian market. The phones were set to be available for sale from July, to note.

On 26th June, Nokia 3, one of the most preferred, affordable handset, powered by Android got released in India. The phone was priced Rs 9,499 and was made available for online sale. Until mid of June, offline stores across India have been selling these phones. The other models from Nokia: Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 priced Rs 12,899 and Rs 14,999 respectively were likely to get released on dates 7th July for the former and on 14th July for the latter. These models are subject to delay due to GST rollout.

As a market fluctuation is likely during the first few weeks of July, retailers are reluctant about stocking new products in their stores. As a result, Nokia is also skeptical about the same scenario for their products. When it comes to pricing, marketing partners of Nokia, HMD Global has affirmed that the products are GST-ready. A Nokia executive states that Nokia 6 and Nokia 5 rates are taken under consideration the GST rates. There will be no price change of these Nokia phones, and will continue to remain the same.
