TET for graduate teachers - only 3.66% pass

Only 3.66% of the candidates who wrote the TET (Teachers Eligibility Test) for graduate teacher conducted by TRB (Teachers Recruitment Board) passed. In the secondary grade TET, only 6.71% passed.

As per the RTE (Right to Education) Act of the central government, a pass in TET has been made compulsory for all the secondary grade and graduate teachers.

So far 3 TETs have been conducted. And then, there was a long gap. The 4th TET was conducted after this long gap in April this year.

TET for secondary grade teachers (Paper-1) was conducted on 29th April. 241555 candidates wrote this test. The next day, 30th April, TET for the graduate teachers (Paper-2) was conducted. 512290 B. Ed. Graduates wrote this test.

The results of the above tests were announced on 30th June. Only 6.71% candidates were successful in Paper-1 – for secondary grade teachers. Only 3.66% was successful in Paper-2 for graduate B. Ed. Candidates. A pass in TET is valid for 7 years.

It is a noteworthy feature that there is no limit to apply for and write TET in instances like when the candidates want to write TET again to improve the marks obtained in the previous attempt.

For the open community cadre candidates, they need to score 90 marks out of 150 to pass the test. For candidates who belong to SC/ST, MBC, or BC, the minimum pass mark is set at 82 marks out of 150.
