42 Lakh SMS about power cuts under Minsara Nanban program

Across the state, the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation has forwarded 42 lakh SMS to customers regarding scheduled power cuts across the state. Electricity Minister P. Thangamani had launched SMS facility on 12th June under Minsara Nanban program.
 
According to a statement by TANGEDCO official, about 42,04,963 SMS are sent to customer mobile phones after launching the facility in the state.
 
To all the customers living in urban centres, about 42 lakh messages are sent. The official said 12,19,236 messages are shared so far. All of them are registered under rural feeders and 8,33,780 consumers.
 
Under the program called Minsara Nanban, there are 1.60 crore consumers of which 1.95 crore domestic consumers are fed into it. The areas are categorized based on feeders linked with specific area to share SMS.
 
There are 60 lakh consumers in Chennai city alone.
 
To constantly update mobile numbers, the senior officials of TANGEDCO are instructed about the Executive Engineers rank on each circle and they are to fully finish consumer indexing, and update their mobile number update.
 
Emails are sent to the senior officials of TANGEDCO in the respective circles. The superintending engineers have sent these mails about consumer indexing and mobile number updating in order to intimate scheduled power shutdown as per Minsara Nanban scheme.
