During the Railway Budget 2016-17, a project about integrated mobile application to all basic services required for passengers was proposed. This is likely to be launched this week.
The Centre for Railway Information Systems had developed this at Rs 7 crore budget. In spite of making most of the Indian Railway services online in the recent years, commuters need various other digital methods of accessing the services.
For complaint registration and grievance redressal, a Complaint Management System was used. For train ticket booking, IRCTC app is used. There are apps like TravelKhana to order food items on wheels. There are complaints about poor maintenance of few of these apps. Hence, we intend bringing all of these under a single platform and make proper maintenance.
The mobile app name is still not revealed. And it has got yet another attraction of booking flight tickets apart from giving other services like ticket booking, porter booking, retiring room, cabs, food ordering, tour packages, and so on.
Explaining about the app, the official said this can be used to book everything including platform tickets. With this, we can save a lot of time, reduce queues and wastage.
