The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Mr E. Palanisamy informed that a feasibility study will be undertaken to implement Metro Rail in Coimbatore. Further, there is a proposal to extend 4th Corridor of the Chennai Metro Rail from the Light House to Poonamallee.
As under the Legislative Assembly Act 110, the state Chief Minister released information on the new projects or developments in various departments.
· He also announced that the financial assistance given on the death of a non-union employee has been increased to Rs. 20000 and the assistance to carry out the final rites will be Rs. 5000.
· 3 Industrial Training Centres will be set up during the current year in Vaniyambadi, Vellore District, Gopichettypalayam in Erode District, and Kottur in Thiruvallur District.
· 10 Insurance-based Pharmacies will be started in the state.
· A special museum reflecting the ancient culture and traditions of the Tamil people will be constructed in the Madurai World Tamil Association at a cost of Rs. 50 Crores. Rs. 15 Crores will be allotted during the initial phase.
· The proposed 4th Corridor of the Chennai Metro Rail Project from the Light House to Koyambedu via Vadapalani will be extended till Poonamallee.
· Feasibility studies will be undertaken for setting up Metro rail project in Coimbatore. The funding for this feasibility study will be from a German Financial Agency.
