The central government has extended the deadline for linking Aadhar card with PAN Card till 31st August.
Earlier, the central government also made it mandatory to link Aadhar card with PAN card for filing Income Tax returns. The central government explained that fake PAN cards will go out of circulation with this initiative.
This made the taxpayers hurry to complete linking Aadhar card with PAN card before filing IT returns.
Today (Monday, 31st July) is the last day for filing IT returns for the last financial year.
As there was a huge rush among the taxpayers to file IT returns online, the website and the online service failed.
Following this, the central Finance Ministry and the IT Department has declared that the last date for filing IT returns is extended until 5th August.
After this, there was a consultation meeting between the central revenue department and the Direct Taxation Department. After the meeting, the last date for linking Aadhar card with PAN card has been extended until 31st August.
It was also announced that all PAN cards not linked with Aadhar cards would be cancelled.
