As the speed of the sea breeze in the coastal areas has come down, the prospects of rain in the next 24 hours in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry has also come down.

Earlier, the Chennai Meteorological Centre had warned that a depression zone formed over the upper layers of the atmosphere from the North Andhra coastal area and Kanyakumari and this may lead to widespread rains for the next 3 days in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and heavy rains in some places. However, the prospects of rain have come down with the recent developments.

An official from the Chennai Meteorological Centre explained that with the formation of depression zone having stabilised, the rains must have come down in Tamil Nadu. However, the speed of the sea breeze has come down considerably reducing the moisture content or humidity in the air. This reduced the avenues for the formation of clouds.

This development has thoroughly reduced the prospects of rain in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, It may rain with thunder in a few places in the next 24 hours.

The Chennai metro city will remain cloudy. There are prospects of rain with thunder during the evening or night.
