Since the beginning of the month of August, Chennai rains have lashing the city with varied intensity. In fact, the city has recorded a few spells of rain since the first day of August. On the first day itself, the Nungambakkam observatory of Chennai witnessed about 10 mm of rainfall.
Since then the capital city of Tamil Nadu, Chennai has been witnessing on and off rainfall of light to moderate intensity. The last 24 hours were no different and the city did record moderate to heavy showers.
These showers have been attributed to an upper air trough which persists in the mid tropospheric levels. Due to this, moisture incursion increased over the region resulting in cloud development and rain.
As per weatherman at Skymet Weather, the city of Chennai is expected to witness light rainfall during the next 2 days. In fact, the possibility of isolated moderate showers over some areas cannot be ruled out as well.
With this, there may be some drop in both maximum and minimum temperatures over the city of Chennai.
