Vegetable rates come down by half

The prices of vegetables have got reduced by half as compared to previous week. 
  • Cauliflower rate has reduced to Rs 15 per piece
  • Green peas that was sold for Rs 100 per kg has got reduced to Rs 80 per kg.
  • Ladies finger has got reduced to Rs 30 per kg
  • Carrot has come down to Rs 40 per kg
  • Beans that have been sold for Rs 50 per kg has now reduced to Rs 35 per kg
  • Potatoes are sold for Rs 18 per kg
  • Bellary onions were available for Rs 60 per kg and have now got reduced to Rs 30 per kg
  • Coriander leaves were sold for Rs 20 per stalk, and this has come down to Rs 10 per stalk 
One of the retail vegetable sellers in Egmore, M Natarajan said there is surplus produces from various districts and states. This has reduced prices drastically. People however are now buying more because of GST implementation which directly passes on its effects to the customers. Those who used to buy 2 kg of each vegetable have reduced it by half and buying just a kg or half kg after GST. People are observed to buy vegetables in bulk only during festival seasons.
