Starting from the year 2018, the Joint Entrance Examination Advanced which is the key to studying in IITs will be conducted online. The Joint Admission Board has taken this decision during a meet held at IIT Madras on Sunday.

The Director and JAB Chairman Bhaskar Ramamurthi said that they have decided to conduct the JEE Advanced exam online starting from next year, 2018. This will have a lot of advantages.

The ideas has been thought of in the past 3 to 4 years. In the beginning, it didn’t seem easy as there were a lot of hindrances and challenges such as the total number of centres where the exam can be conducted. Things now look fair and feasible for making online examination possible for over 2 lakh estimated candidates. In order to get qualified to study in leading engineering institutes, one has to clear JEE Main examination. For this, they need to choose both online and offline JEE Main exams. Mock tests will also be conducted for Joint Admission Board for these students.

Printing mistakes in question papers can be largely reduced, say officials. After several objections expressed towards some of the questions in JEE Advanced exam 2017, 18 bonus marks will be given to all the students, according to what IIT Madras have decided.
