In the new system of conducting public examination for +1 classes from this academic year, a total of 5 marks have been allotted for the attendance record of the students. 3 marks for the attendance of the normal theory classes on subjects and 2 marks for the subjects where industrial related practical examinations.
If the attendance record is over 85%, full marks of the allotted will be given.
The Public Examinations for +1 classes are proposed to be conducted from this academic year 2017-18. In this regard, the state minister for school education, K. A. Sengottaiyan, released the model question papers for this proposed +1 Public examination last Friday.
Model question papers for 23 subjects including Tamil and English and 13 subjects on industrial education have been created and will be distributed to all the schools today (Monday, 21st August).
The main features of the format of the model paper for +1 Public Examinations released by the Ministry of school Education:
In the Language subjects, 90 marks are allotted for the written examination. 10 marks are for the internal assessment. A minimum of 25% marks must be secured in the written examination for a pass.
For subjects with practical, 70 marks are allotted for the written test. 30 marks are allotted for the practical test. A minimum of 15 marks must be obtained in the written examination for a pass.
For the subjects without practical and the written examination for industrial education subjects, 90 marks are allotted for the written examination. A minimum of 25 marks should be obtained for a pass.
For the subjects with practical in industrial education courses, 75 marks are allotted for the practicals. 30 marks are allotted for internal assessment. A minimum of 25 marks must be obtained in the practical examination for a pass.
For the general subjects, 10 marks for internal assessment, a maximum of 3 marks for the attendance record, 5 marks for the internal examinations, and a maximum of 2 marks for the project work and field study/work are allotted.
For the practical subjects in the industrial education courses, 25 marks are allotted for the internal assessment. 5 marks are allotted for the attendance record. 15 marks maximum are allotted for the internal examinations. A maximum of 5 marks is allotted for the project work and field study/work.

General subjects - Maximum 3 marks
- For attendance more than 85% - 3 marks
- For attendance record between 80% and 85% - 2 marks
- For attendance record between 75% and 80% - 1 mark
Subjects under the industrial practical courses - maximum 5 marks
- Attendance record over 85% - 5 marks
- Attendance record between 80% and 85% - 4 marks
- Attendance record between 75% and 80% - 2 marks
