The Reserve Bank of India has issued the new currency notes of denomination Rs. 200 in circulation from today (25th August).
The new Rs. 200 note is yellow in colour. It carries the image of Mahatma Gandhi on one side. Rs. 200 in Devnagari script is printed on the side. The image of Sanchi Stupa is on the other side of the note.
The note has been designed to facilitate even the visually-impaired people to feel and know the denomination.
As the currency notes of Rs. 2000 are in circulation. The new Rs. 200 notes are being released in order to meet the demand for the change.
Earlier, during the last year, the Rs. 1000 and Rs. 500 currency notes were demonetized. Instead, new notes of Rs. 2000 and Rs. 500 were released.
However, the demand for change money still persists in many places. It was announced that new notes of Rs. 50 will be printed to overcome this.
In this situation, the central government has announced the release of new notes of Rs. 200. Subsequently, RBI has now announced the release of new Rs. 200 notes.
