It seems like rain gods have showed too much of kindness over the entire state of Tamil Nadu as many places have recorded good showers in the past few days. There were rare occasions when the state remained rain free. However, the city of Chennai did not record much of rain activity all this while.
Now, the rain activity has significantly taken a back seat over the region during the last 24 hours. Both observatories of Chennai also remained rain free during the same time frame.
Some areas that recorded rain include Thiruttani 13 mm, Chinthamani 24 mm, Kodaikanal 4 mm and Vellore 1 mm.
As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, scattered light rainfall is likely to continue for the next two to three days over the coastal parts of Tamil Nadu. While the interior districts will witness good rain and thundershowers. The Gateway to South India, Chennai may observe short spell of light rain.
The reason for these rains can be attributed to the trough that is extending from West Bengal up to Interior Tamil Nadu.
As on September 3, the state of Tamil Nadu is rain surplus by 39%. As far as the rain stats are concerned for Chennai, the city average rainfall stands at 147.7 mm, until now the city has recorded 5.3 mm of rain.
