With the recent imposition of the order that all vehicle drivers must keep their original driving licences while driving, a large number of drivers have gathered in all the Regional Transport Offices (RTOs).
Subsequently, the Tamil Nadu state government has announced that all RTOs will work on Saturday (9th September) though it is a holiday.
There are 117 Regional Transport Offices in Tamil Nadu. On an average, 5500 driving licences are being issued daily from these offices.
With the order that keeping original driving licence while driving as mandatory, a large number of applicants are thronging the RTOs seeking Learner’s Licence and driving Licences. Considering this large crowd, the state government of Tamil Nadu had announced that the RTOs will function on 9th September, Saturday (which is a holiday).
