Original driving licence mandatory - 2 lakh persons throng RTOs last 4 days

Following the categorical Tamil Nadu State government order that the vehicle drivers must keep their original driving licence while driving, a crowd of over 2 lakh person thronged all the RTOs in order to renew their licence or getting a learner`s licence.

The order has come into force on 9th September. This has caused panic and fear among the people. This has led to the thronging of unmanageable crowds in all the RTOs throughout the state of Tamil Nadu.

Thousands of persons visit the RTOs for the tasks of renewal of the licence or getting a learner’s licence. In this development, the state government made all the RTOs function on Saturday, though it is a normal holiday. Accordingly, all RTOs functioned on 9th September.

The RTOs (Regional Transport Officers) explained that due to the recent order, there have been extra crowds in all the RTOs over the last few days. Especially, around 2 Lakh persons have visited all RTOs in Tamil Nadu between 6th September and 9th September. The people with the tasks of getting licences renewed or getting the learner’s licence gathered and waited from early mornings.
