The southwest monsoon may be slow in getting withdrawn as in the next 10 days, at least 2 low pressures are likely, say weather models. This indicates more rain showers along the west coast including the state of Tamil Nadu.

In the coming days, the pleasing weather however may disappear, there are vigorous surface winds awaiting to resist sea breeze. Regional Meteorological Centre officials state that the monsoon is active in the southern interiors and coastal regions of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Along the northern part of Bay of Bengal, there is also upper air circulation which is the major cause for occasional showers and clouds in Chennai and other close places, say officials from the met department.

There is no abnormal temperature records so far in weather stations in Chennai. However, the temperature is harsh as it is of the range of 35 degrees Celsius. Renowned weather bloggers write that due to surface winds in the central parts of Tamil Nadu, clouds may gust up to 40 km in an hour, causing blustery climatic conditions.

There may be extreme windy conditions in Chennai due to strong surface level winds from the west. It will make the sea breeze resistive to move along the coast.
