The Chennai High Court has ordered that the state government should decide on the revised wages for the government employees before 13th October after receiving the recommendation of the 7th Pay Commission.

It has further clarified no disciplinary action should be taken or withdrawal of salary on the government employees who indulged in the strike.

The 7th Pay Commission is scheduled to submit their recommendations to the state government on 30th September. After this, the state government has to decide whether to implement or reject the recommendations of the commission before 13th October.

In case it gets delayed, the state government will have to make some interim payments to the state government employees and the teachers.

Further, the state government should not take any action on the teachers and the government employees till the next order. Salary should not be deducted on the days of the strike. Instead, the state government will have to advise the employees/teachers to work on Saturdays to compensate for the absence during the strike.

The next enquiry was adjourned to 23rd October.
