The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that there are strong prospects of heavy rains in several places in Tamil Nadu due to the formation of a low-pressure zone.
It rained with thunder yesterday (Sunday, 24th September) evening in several urban areas in the Chennai Metro City including Anna Salai, Royappettah, Teynampet, Saidapet, Royapuram, and Thiruvotriyur. It rained in several other places in the state. The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that the rain will persist today (Monday, 25th September) as well.
The officials of the centre explained that a low-depression format has spread in the upper layer of the atmosphere over the Bay of Bengal from North Tamil Nadu to Kerala. Because of this, there are prospects of heavy rains with thunder in a few places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, The officials informed that there are even stronger prospects of heavy rain in the interior districts of Tamil Nadu.
