The city of Chennai has not witnessed a great month of September in terms of rain. In fact, during most of the time, the city has witnessed either very light rain or a few moderate spells of rainfall. In fact, there have been few days when the capital city of Tamil Nadu has remained as dry as a bone.
However, rain gods decided to bestow some kindness over the residents of Chennai. Thus, the city of Chennai recorded good rains in the past 24 hours. In fact, a few moderate spells of rain were observed over many parts of Chennai.
In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, the Nungambakkam observatory of Chennai recorded a good 30 mm of rainfall. Adjoining areas of Tamil Nadu also witnessed some good spells of rain.
These weather conditions can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation which is over Andaman Sea and adjoining areas. Along with this, an east-west shear zone persists from this system up to Lakshadweep across the areas of South Bay of Bengal, North Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
Thus, as per weathermen at Skymet Weather, good rains are expected to continue over the city of Chennai. In fact, these rainfall activities will range between light to moderate. With this, temperatures will remain in the comfortable range.
