For absolutely Zero price, the Reliance JioPhone is launched as India Ka Smartphone. On the official website of Reliance Industries, all the terms and conditions are articulated.

As per the terms mentioned here, users are allowed to return the device within 3 year period. If done so, they will have to bear with the total or part price of the phone paid at the time of purchasing the device.

What is the refund you will get?
No refund shall be made for users who return the device within 1 year of buying it. Buyers will be entitled to Rs 500 as return when they handover the device within 12 to 24 months. When they return the device between 24 to 36 months, a return of Rs 1,000 will be made. And only for those who return the phone after the full period of 3 years i.e. 36 months shall be given with the total price of the phone that is Rs 1,500.

Keep recharging
Just to keep the device active with them, users will have to recharge month on month. The threshold for recharge is set as Rs 1,500 per year, and if undone, the company would repossess the handset.

If the recipient buys telecom recharge vouchers from authorized carrier – which is at present Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited – the user shall enjoy continued use of the device. It may also be obtained from other authorized retailers for using JioPhone for minimum of Rs 1,500 per year for all the 3 years.

So, on the whole, the user will have to recharge for Rs 4,500 during the 3-year period. If the user doesn’t get it done, the company shall get the device back and charge them from the return price they are entitled to.

Users who make use of the device for the entire period of 36 months should return it within 3 months of completing 36 months of usage. This is what they call the return period. If the user doesn’t return the device even after the return period, the total deposit amount of Rs 1,500 shall be forfeited. And the company would repossess the device after the return period.
