Recent studies are now blaming high fructose corn syrup. These studies explain the impact of fructose corn syrup and glucose. They state that the two can impact in a negative way on the health of a person and lead to weight gain. What is the effect of fructose extracted from fruit? Here is what researchers say

Sugar is basically categorized into three main types
  • Sucrose
  • Glucose
  • Fructose
In spite of having similar kind of sweetness, there is difference in the way our body metabolizes each of these. Fruits and vegetables naturally contain fructose. It gets metabolized in the liver for which enzyme Frucokinase is needed for initiation. This, unlike glucose, will not lead to insulin spike and helps in producing leptin.

The Endocrinology and Diabetes Department of the University of Minnesota, US conducted a study and discovered that fructose present in fruits and veggies is a very most modest component of energy. It does not concern in any kind.

It is okay to have fruits
There are other studies claiming that fructose extracted from fruits don’t produce insulin spike as much as obtained from glucose or sucrose. You should keep eating good volume of fruits ahead of this becoming detrimental to your health. There is rich fiber and water content in fresh fruits. As compared to other kinds of sweet fruits, consuming naturally occurring sugar is less concentrated. The more is the presence of dietary fibre and the satiety they produce, there is limited fruit consumption. You don’t need to avoid fruits unless you have any allergic reaction to them or that you are on Ketogenic diet. In no way, fruits can be termed as unhealthy and they don’t lead to weight gain in any sort.
