To all the JioPhone customers who have paid one-third of the total price of the device, Reliance Jio has started shipment of the handset. Free calls on the device is the prominent feature that the company provides. This feature however comes with a certain terms and conditions.
Cap on free voice calling
As per the company statement, a maximum of 300 minutes will be allowed in a day. This move aims at avoiding misuse of the service. In case of any suspected misuse of the device, the company shall have complete right towards suspending their service. According to the terms and conditions, the connection will only be made available for personal use.
No misusing or telemarketing
This plain is offered only for personal usage. If any misuse, fraudulence or unauthorized telemarketing or commercial usage is observed, RJIL shall hold complete right of withdrawing all the voice benefits extended, says recharge terms and conditions.
Limit on free SMS
Apart from the usage limit of 300 minutes per day, there will also be limit of 100 SMS per day as set by TRAI. Similarly, the other operators like Vodafone, Airtel and Idea are also supposed to subscribe for the daily limit.
Limit imposed for other operators
Similarly, there is a cap on unlimited calling plans or the other operators. The limit set on Airtel is 250 minutes per day, and 1000 minutes in 7 consecutive days. Coming on to Vodafone, if a consumer uses over 1000 minutes within 7 days period, a charge of 30p per minute shall be charged for the next 7 days.
Terms and conditions on device return
The terms and conditions are imposed on the customers as the device deliveries have begun. The official website of Reliance Industries has disclosed complete list of terms and conditions.
As per these conditions, within 3-year period, one can return the device. This however may lead to losing the entire amount or a partial amount of the total payment made towards purchase of the device.
If users return their device within one year, no money will be returned to them. When the device is returned within a period of 12 to 24 months, the buyer shall get INR 500 in return, and when the device is returned within 24 to 36 months, the return amount will be INR 1000. The full amount shall be returned when the device is returned after completion of all three years.
To continue using the device, users will have to continuously recharging their balance month on month. The threshold set for recharges is INR 1500 per year. If this is not done, the company shall repossess the handset.
