After witnessing a declining trend, the rain activity over Bengaluru once again paced up and the last 24 hours came with a bouquet of heavy showers for the city. Although, good rains had lashed the city and other parts of the state in both September and October month.
In fact, among the other states of South India, Karnataka is one of the states that has been reeling under rainy days even after the withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon.
In the last 24 hours also, rains occurred in the state. Though, the districts of South Interior Karnataka including Bengaluru received more rains as compared with the coastal regions of the state.
Within the last 24 hours from 08:30 am as on Thursday, Bengaluru recorded a whopping 77 mm of rains, Mandya 21.4 mm, Agumbe 17.6 mm, Bellary 15 mm, Mangaluru 7 mm, and Devangere witnessed 2 mm of light spells.
As per Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation persists over Telangana. Another cyclonic circulation also remains over South coastal Karnataka and adjoining North Kerala. A third cyclonic circulation which is over East Central Bay of Bengal is extending up to mid-tropospheric level.
Under its influence, a Low-Pressure Area is likely to develop over North Bay of Bengal within the next 48 hours. Furthermore, a trough relates to all these systems. All these systems are likely to move slightly northwards and hence moderate rains are likely to continue at many places over South Karnataka including Bengaluru for the next 24 hours.
Thereafter, as the weather system will gradually shift towards the north, rains over the southern district of Karnataka may reduce and may increase over North Karnataka. However, pleasant weather with cloudy to the overcast sky will continue to prevail over Bengaluru.
