Chennai city gets mobile post office facility

As an initiative to spread awareness about the contributions made and role played by the postal department, India Post is celebrating National Postal Week from 9th October.
This is a week-long celebration where mobile post offices covering different regions of the southern suburbs was launched at St. Thomas Mount HPO on Tuesday.
 
Chief Post Master General of Tamil Nadu, M. Sampath flagged off the vehicle when he said these efforts are taken to provide improved postal service to the people residing in areas that are so far uncovered and in new settlement regions.
 
This vehicle will encompass the below mentioned regions
  • Ezhil Nagar – 1 to 2 pm
  • Semmanchery – 2.300 to 3.30 pm
  • Infosys OMR – 3.45 to 04.30 pm
  • Race Course Road, Guindy – 5 to 6 pm
  • Independence Day Park, Nanganallur – 6.30 to 7.30 pm 
The demand for such mobile facility in the remaining regions of the city are being studied. Based on the need, the other areas will also be eventually covered during morning hours as well, said Mr Sampath.
 
Stamp and stationery sale, registered post, speed post, and e-money order services will be provided at these mobile post offices.
 
On the spot – My Stamp printing facility will also be included in these mobile post offices.
 
On 14th October, the week-long celebration will come to an end where different kinds of value added services offered by the postal department shall be articulated including various customer-centric products.
 
Mr Sampath, stating about the details of National Postal Week, said in view of National Postal Week, awareness about India Post’s role and activities will be made.
 
On October 11, all the establishments across the state will be celebrating Postal Life Insurance Day. On October 12, it is Philately Day and on October 13, it is Business Development Day, and on October 14, it is Mails Day.
