Chennai’s said to be getting wide roads from congestion

Transferable Development Right (TDR) that has been introduced by the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority under the Second Master Plan. 

Chennai’s Corporation is set to take up work to widen three key roads in the city. The metropolitan city chennai to get fat(widened) roads for it’s congestion problems which creates an extraordinary traffic supplement.and the other power escalation for the property owners in the widening sector of road that the Corporation will not pay cash compensation to owners whose properties have been acquired for the road widening works.but the chennai corporation gave them another secession in that instead, it will give the owners additional Floor Space Index (FSI) permissions. These permissions can either be used by the owner, or transferred to a third party.

The officials added that We now have to complete other formalities with the Chennai Collector, before we can superimpose our charts on the tahsildar’s maps, so we can notify the owners whose properties have to acquired.and he said that the three roads where widening works have been cleared by the Corporation Council are the Nelson Manickam Road, Paper Mills Road/Red Hills Road and the Kaliamman Koil Road, behind the Koyambedu Bus Terminus.which had heavy congestion mainly in peak hours of working hours which deliberately  gave disturbance to the employers who frequently uses the route.

The Officials added that the use of Transferable Development Rights (TDR) is not an experiment, lessons learnt from the widening of these three roads would be taken into account when more roads are chosen for widening.which was introduced under  the Second Master Plan by the CMDA.
