Olive Ridley Turtles to go back to their Home

22,000 Olive Ridley hatchlings (baby turtles) into the sea in just this year.said by the officials of Tree Foundation’s Sea Turtle Protection Force (STPF) which have done this great job for their whole life by releasing these infants to their native.The chairpersons Dr Supraja Dharini said to our journals that release over 1.25 lakh hatchlings since 2002, More than 40 members of the STPF from 21 villages along the 120-km coastline from Neelankarai to Eggiar Kuppam gathered at the 11th annual STPF meeting for turtle season 2013 held at Tree Foundation’s Interpretation Center Blue Beach Road, Neelankarai on Sunday.

The chaiperson added that the success is not in our own hand the achievements of the foundation with the help of fisherfolk volunteers.and the group also discussed how they conserve the critically endangered Olive Ridley turtles and also create awareness among other fisherfolk.and the function was inaugurated by Mr C.V. Sankar,I.A.S. Principal Secretary, Environment and Forests, congratulated the team and lauded the works of Ms Supraja.he also added that his department would extend its support to the continuation of the community-based sea turtle conservation along the coast of Tamil Nadu.

Most of the oliver ridley turtles are caught in fishing nets by fisher folks which are carefully brought to the coast and conserved an they are released to the sea and she added that a total of 35 turtles were released from entangled nets between January and March 2012.

This shows that there are some humanitarians are living in the planet paves the way for Rain.
